Judge Not
Date Published: 02 / 25 / 2025 |

This morning I read these words out of the mouth of Jesus:
“Judge not, and you will not be judged”
Luke 6:37
In other words, Jesus is saying stop making snap judgments, stop judging people based on 20% of the information or even 50% of the information, stop judging people based on appearances, age, ethnicity, or style.
Stop judging people based on assumptions.
Judging seems to be worse than most sins because he adds that if you live your life judging people God will bring down the hammer on you! Yikes!
Now before anyone claps back at me, of course we need to make “judgment calls,” but we must do it without being judgmental. Judgementalism is an attitude - an attitude that is satanic and sinful.
So let us obey our Lord and “Judge not!”
Here are 10 considerations to rid yourself of judgement:
- Mind your own business
- If you must get involved, always listen to both sides or every side of a story
- Your opinions are not the same as universal truth
- Let people be different and see things differently than you
- Mercy triumphs over judgement (James 2:13). Seek grace first.
- You are not God
- Take the log out of your own eye before you take the speck out of your brother's eye (Luke 6:41-42)
- God has given you grace, be gracious with others
- Judgmental people are horrible to be around
- Let Jesus be the Judge
May we be the least judgmental church we can possibly be for the sake of unity in the church and creating an environment of grace and love in All Souls Church.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Harvey
