Preparing for Holy Week

Preparing for Holy Week cover for post

He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.

-Romans 4:25 (New Living Translation)

Today I wanted to write to you to encourage you to think about our spiritual journey together over the next month. Along with Christians all over the world, we will enter into Holy Week. Holy Week is the week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.

Easter is the great celebration of Christianity because we celebrate the event that changed the world, the event that is central to our faith: The resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Spring is near and Easter is coming fast.

Below you will find the schedule of events, but mostly I am praying for you all to prepare yourself to be receptive to the Lord in this season.

1.) 2 Weeks left in the book of James

James has been a very powerful and convicting book to show us how badly we need the gospel. I hope you all feel the challenge of having a faith with integrity and I pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to cause you to have an integrated faith.

As you press into integrity keep in mind that “he gives more grace” (James 4:6).

You don’t have to be perfect.

It is way more important that

you pursue the One who is perfect.

He will do the work in you.

2.) Baptisms this Sunday 3/19

Come ready to celebrate the Baptisms of 6 All Souls congregants! Pray for them this week. Make sure you congratulate them after church on Sunday!

3.) Holy Week

March 24th - April 10th Daily Scripture and prayer prompts

If your phone number is in our system we will be sending a couple Bible verses and a prayer prompt via text message. Each verse will be taken from the life of Christ. The purpose of this is for us to meditate on the life and work of Christ as we celebrate the events of Holy Week.

April 2 - Palm Sunday

Service will start outside on the lawn with palms.

April 7 - Good Friday

7 PM service time (service will be less than an hour)

April 9 - Easter Sunday

(Egg Hunt, Brunch)

Easter is an opportune time to invite friends to church. Pray for people that you might like to invite and pray for a natural way to bring it up to them.

Finally, pray that visitors would clearly hear the gospel on Easter Sunday.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Harvey
