What Is Your Mission?

What Is Your Mission? cover for post

What is the Gospel and what is your mission?

In Acts 10:38-42, the Apostle Peter was preaching the gospel to the leader of the Italian Cohort of the Roman army and he laid out for him and his household the Gospel and the mission of Christians:

1.) Jesus is the Perfect Human anointed by the Holy Spirit

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem.

Acts 10:38

2.) Jesus physically died and physically rose again

They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

Acts 10:39-41

3.) The mission of the church is to announce these facts to the world

And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.

Acts 10:38-42

If you are a Christian this is your mission.

This mission is not to be done as a lone ranger evangelist, but as part of the Church of Jesus. We work together to announce this message to the world.

This is the ultimate purpose of your life:

to believe the Gospel,

to receive the Gospel,

and to spread the Gospel.

Homework:

1.) Take a moment to slowly read the verses above.

2.) Take a moment to believe these truths.

3.) Pray for someone in your life that needs the grace of God.

4.) Plan to share these truths with them or invite them to church.

5.) Thank Jesus for saving you through the power of the Gospel!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Harvey
